Founded in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation and a National Historic Landmark.
The Garden is a center for botanical research and science education, as well as an oasis in the city of St. Louis. The Garden offers 79 acres of beautiful horticultural display, including a 14-acre Japanese strolling garden, Henry Shaw's original 1850 estate home, and one of the world's largest collections of rare and endangered orchids.
For over 154 years, the Garden has been an oasis in the city, a place of beauty and family fun-and also a center for education, science, and conservation.
Position Overview
Under limited supervision, this position prepares, analyzes and reconciles attendance statistics and financial data for Missouri Botanical Garden Retail Operations, primarily Visitor Services (VS). Recognizes and identifies data trends, performs forecasts, maintains records and creates reports on Garden attendance and admission revenue.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepares and reconciles the VS daily, weekly, and monthly attendance and revenue reports using the ticketing system data.
• Prepares regular event reports for annual festivals, shows and special events noting year-to-year comparisons and trends in attendance and revenue.
• Sets up annual budget information and assists in preparing quarterly forecasts and analysis.
• Investigates and reconciles attendance and revenue discrepancies as they arise.
• Adds new data elements to daily and monthly spreadsheets accurately linking ticket type, demographic details, chart of account and pricing information.
• Creates custom reports in response to special requests from other departments.
• Reconciles vouchers, coupons and payments related to marketing and partnership programs.
• Shares technical experience with others and recommends process improvements.
• Assists with invoicing and other administrative functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
- Three (3) years' relevant experience creating reports, spreadsheets and analyzing data.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting/financial processes.
- Previous experience with commercial financial software systems preferred.
- Ability to organize, present and communicate data in a clear, concise manner.
- Requires strong attention to detail and mathematical accuracy.
- Must possess investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Able to handle multiple tasks, appropriately balance priorities, meet goals and deadlines.
- Able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willing to take initiative and proactively suggest recommendations.
- Customer service oriented.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- An equivalent combination of skills, education and experience may be considered.
Computer Skills:
- Highly proficient with Excel, basic proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Ability to learn and become proficient using Galaxy ticketing system reports feature.
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral/written).
Mathematical Skills:
- Requires proficient ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate percentages and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
- Requires ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
Physical Demands:
- Requires ability to make frequent telephone calls.
- Ability to utilize computer keyboard (typing) and sit for extended periods of the work day.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
- May be required to perform tasks at varying heights (i.e., step stool ladders, etc.).
- Ability to move up and down stairwells (multiple MBG buildings have stairs); walk about facility throughout work day; standing, reaching and stooping.
Work Environment:
- Office environment, cubicle work area with multiple staff within the department.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment to include computer, copier, fax machines, and other equipment.
