About B Lab: B Lab is the non-profit organization which certifies and supports B Corporations in service of its mission to build a global movement to redefine success in business. As of January 1, 2014, there are 900 Certified B Corporations from 60 industries, including 30+ in Colorado, all of whom meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability (bcorporation.net). B Lab has opened a full-time 3-person office in Colorado to help serve and build the Colorado B Corp community.


Position Purpose/Mission

To serve and build the Colorado business community to create a better way to do business and to make Colorado the state leader in responsible business practice.

Responsibilities 

The Community Lead will:

  • Foster a large and vibrant B Corp community through active communication, education, networking, and partnership. 
  • Provide business value to existing B Corps/Benefit Corps and to the broader business community in Colorado to foster an engaged group of companies committed to a better way to do business.


How:
  

Educate/Share: deliver world-class educational content on the B Impact Assessment, B Analytics, & Benefit Corporations.

  • Engage: assess the needs of Colorado B Corps and work to ensure they can derive value from their certification through regular feedback mechanisms.
  • Build Community: provide opportunities for networking and community-building for Certified B Corporations and Benefit Corporations.

Position Functions: 

Work with B Lab Colorado Director, Bus Dev Lead, and local business, non-profit, and academic leaders, as well as the entire B Lab team to: 

  • Ensure that local B Corps are engaged and deriving value from their certification.
  • Connect leadership teams with their B Corp peers and engage all employees in support of B Lab's initiatives to serve the B Corp movement. 
  • Build partnerships to increase usage by companies of the B Impact Assessment. 
  • Lead local efforts to increase usage by investors of the B Analytics platform.
  • Generate and organize educational and engagement programs. 
  • Represent B Lab at conferences and events.
  • Support B Lab's policy work at the state and municipal level.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Passion for using business as a force for good. 
  • High energy, self-managing, entrepreneurial personality capable of working in start-up environment. 
  • Relentless problem solver with collaborative style.
  • Strong relationship-building, communications, and organizational skills.
  • 5+ years of experience as a key operator in an entrepreneurial business or as director of sales/business development or account management in a fast-growth or larger company.
  • Strong presenter to groups both in person and on virtual media.
  • Ability and desire to travel, largely throughout Colorado but occasionally out of state.


Preferred:
 

  • Industry experience in traditional Colorado sector(s) including: agriculture, aeronautics, energy, LOHAS, resource development, technology, outdoor/recreation, and tourism.
  • Deep "roots" in Colorado business community and particularly in the sustainability space.
  • Experience working for or with a business association.

Accountability

This position reports to B Lab Colorado Director, Kim Coupounas, but is accountable to entire B Lab team.

Compensation: $45-$75k plus benefits depending upon experience.
