B Corps are a new type of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
B Corp certification is to sustainable business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Today, there is a growing community of more than 850 Certified B Corps from 28 countries and 60 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
Position Overview:
Work directly with companies and funds to support them in the process of becoming a Certified B Corporation or GIIRS-Rated by reviewing and applying B Lab's standards in the B Impact Assessment.
Responsibilities:
Position Functions
- Assist companies in completing the certification or rating process. Typically it includes the following:
- Review companies' Impact Assessment (data about the company's social and environmental performance - www.bcorporation.net/assessment).
- Assist companies in validating their assessment responses by phone, providing supporting documentation, and completing the Onsite Review process.
- Guide companies through the B Corp Legal Framework and legal requirement for certification.
- Provide suggestions for companies to improve their score.
- Assist fund managers, institutional investors, business associations, and industry group networks in adopting the standards for their investees or members.
- Provide continual feedback to improve the Standards and the ratings process.
- Provide feedback and support to improve the technology platform.
Relationships
- Reports to manager of Standards Analyst team.
- Works closely with Standards and Product Development teams internally.
- Responsible for independently managing external relationships with companies.
Qualifications:
- Passion for using business to solve social and environmental problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Relentless problem solver with collaborative style.
- Facility with Microsoft Suite and Mac equivalents; Adobe Acrobat, Salesforce or other CRMs.
- 1-3 years experience in business, preferably in a role with external facing accountability.
- Fluency in another language preferred.
Compensation: $30-$50k plus benefits depending upon experience.
