Pure Essence Laboratories, Inc., is the result of over 50 years experience in designing the world's finest dietary supplements. In 1980, Jery Cochern established a small company to distribute the SuperFood known as Spirulina.

A few years later, he started a larger firm to offer not only pure Spirulina, but complex formulations that were based in Spirulina, Barley Grass and other SuperFoods. These products were the industry's first Food-Based supplements. Food-Based has stood the test of time because whole food nutrition makes a difference you can actually feel.

Whole food nutrition outperforms isolated nutrients for two reasons. First, whole foods contain nutrients in the exact forms and balance as they exist in nature. This gives cells the raw materials and catalysts they need to function. Second, whole foods are the only way to obtain the phyto-nutrients that protect cells from the damage caused by free radical oxidation, glycation, etc.

Position Overview:

Assist in formulating dietary supplements for use in general nutrition, weight management, digestion, cleansing, alkalizing, supporting specific organs and/or metabolic functions and helping manage or correct specific health conditions. Emphasis on the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Western Herbalism and Ayurveda in creating quality supplements. Travel is required for this position. 

Responsibilities:

R&D Support 

• Assist in sourcing, preparing and producing herbal materials for new projects
• Utilize knowledge of plant medicines and their therapeutic applications to assist in development to health promoting supplements
• Use knowledge of proper plant preparation to maximize product capabilities
• Attend raw materials trade shows
• Maintain R & D sample cabinet
• Maintain database of all R&D samples complete with price quotes
• Create pilot batches as needed
• Meet with suppliers
• Attend webinars, trainings and conference calls with suppliers 

Training Support

• Provide training on use of herbal medicine, formulation practices, and nutrition to company representatives and customers 

Qualifications:  

Education, Training, Abilities and Work Experience Required:

• AA or BA Degree, in nutrition, botanical medicine, or Naturopathic medicine
• Experience in the nutraceutical industry and/or functional medicine
• English language fluency; ability to write and speak articulately
• Experience with online forums
• Excellent communication skills and basic math skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Software in conjunction with pertinent office software
• Minimum experience required is 1-3 years
