Customer Service Assistant

Preserve is the leading producer of stylish 100% recycled household products. Preserve turns yogurt cups into toothbrushes and take-out containers into cutting boards. Preserve does recycle, but first and foremost, we are a sustainable consumer products company. We make everyday household products like toothbrushes, cups and plates, cutting boards and food storage containers, using sustainable design principles and 100% recycled materials. And now for our role as a recycler: Because so many communities do not collect and recycle #5 plastics, we decided to create our own recycling program (Gimme 5) to allow more people to recycle their #5s. We then use those recycled yogurt cups and other #5s in our products. Pretty cool, huh?  

Position Overview:

Preserve is a pioneering company with a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit. We seek a self-motivated and responsible individual to assist in a variety of tasks essential to the operation and success of our company. We are looking for a hard worker with great attitude and a sense of humor.

This is a part time position. Our ideal scenario is to hire someone 3-4 hours / day for 4-5 days / week, but the schedule can be adapted based on individual situations.In addition, the Preserve team pledges to offer plenty of high impact opportunities for you to contribute to and learn about the workings of our fast growing, mission driven company. Top contributors will be considered for future full-time positions.

Responsibilities: 

This hands-on position requires that the individual perform the following duties: 

• Review orders and pack boxes for online store fulfillment
• Mail product samples and information to customers, partners and press 
• Perform inventory counts and maintain the stockroom
• Answer and transfer calls and respond to basic consumer inquiries
• Support customer service, sales and marketing departments with a variety of other projects 

Qualifications: 

• Basic computer proficiency (email, internet, MS Word and Excel)
• Item packaging experience and knowledge of how to package items to avoid shipping damages 
• Knowledge of sending international shipments is a plus
• Candidate must be a team player that is flexible, thorough and able to work independently.
• Must be extremely well organized and show initiative in starting and following through on projects.
• Candidate must be physically capable to perform job functions including the ability to reach, bend, and lift 30 pounds. 

Compensation: $8-10/hour.
