Renewable Energy Engineer/Operations Manager

Position Overview:

Our client, a company in the alternative energy sector, is seeking to recruit for the post of an Renewable Energy Engineer/Operations Manager in Barbados. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. 

Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will oversee the day - to - day operations of the solar water heater manufacturing facility, including timely and cost effective procurement of raw materials and timely delivery of finished products.
• The Renewable Energy Engineer/Operations Manager will be responsible for the designing, planning and executing the installation of renewable energy systems on various types of residential and commercial properties.
• The individual will design photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy installations to conform to local building and Government Electrical Engineering Department regulations and to the regulations of jurisdictions where installations are done.
• The successful individual will assist with contract procurement, oversee teams of technicians, cost renewable energy installations and work closely with the purchasing department to ensure adequate inventory levels for projects.
• The Renewable Energy Engineer/Operations Manager will prepare quotations for PV and other renewable energy installations for Government and other tenders.
• The individual will conduct site surveys, read electrical plans and produce electrical drawings and schematics.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential business risks (e.g. human error, fraud, system failures and inadequate controls) and updating the CEO and/or Board of Directors on any new business developments.
• The Renewable Energy Engineer/Operations Manager will lead a team and be responsible for implementing and executing effective safety programmes.

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate must possess an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. A first degree in Renewable Energy would be an asset, but not required. 
• He or she must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in operations management within this industry or a similar field.
• The successful individual will possess the ability to read and draw electrical circuits and building drawings and be able to use various electrical testing instruments.
• The candidate must have strong technical skills in the design and installation of large photovoltaic systems.
• The candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills and pay close attention to detail.
• The individual must be willing to travel.
