Description

Incorporated in 2006, The National Community Land Trust (CLT) Network provides training, advocacy and resources for its member organizations, which nurture and sustain healthy and economically diverse communities by providing permanently affordable access to land, homes, and related resources.

Position Overview:

Our ideal ED is a skilled consensus builder, mission-focused, with superior knowledge and proven track record in organizational budgeting, virtual management and financial growth, particularly in the complex model of national membership-based advocacy and direct service organizations. A passion-centered leader and gifted communicator with demonstrated know-how in scaling an organization and developing a performance-based culture among a group of diverse, dedicated community development/affordable housing professionals.

The ED is also a transparent and charismatic leader and diplomat, skilled in the ability to guide by example to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that elevate and further enhance the mission and vision of the CLT Network. Significant fundraising experience (including grant writing) with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures is a must.

The ED reports to a very active, committed and geographically diverse board of directors and is charged with the overall leadership and strategic guidance of the CLT Network, which currently operates with an annual budget of between $1-2M, a staff of 3 to 5 employees, (serving in locations across the U.S.), and partners and members distributed across the country.

The Network currently operates in a virtual, office-free work environment. Each employee, including the ED, reside and work in different cities and states. Consequently, successful experience in leading organizational activities across time zones and ideally in virtual, online, (synchronous and asynchronous) settings is a strong plus. Must be comfortable leading conference calls, webinars and working via other mobile meeting platforms to continuously motivate, drive deadlines and communicate effectively and transparently without the luxury of meeting face-to-face.

Qualifications:

Our ideal ED will possess a BA/BS and perhaps an advanced degree in a related field, or have commensurate years of related experience. He or she will have a remarkable and progressive work history in a related environment, including significant and multi-discipline leadership responsibilities.

Preference will be given to proven leaders with affordable housing, community development/advocacy and/or housing policy development experience in work settings similar to the Network. The ability to speak, read, write Spanish is a plus.

Compensation: Pay is commensurate with experience. Benefits package is very comprehensive and market driven. This position does not require relocation, work can be performed from any U.S. based location, however preference will be given to qualified candidates that reside in or near (or willing to relocate to) an airport hub city, particularly those located in the Central part of the United States.

To Apply:

Please send an updated resume or CV including a description of the size and complexity of teams or organizations you've lead to: Mary Cooley/The Network, ED Search (email preferred). No phone calls please.
