Position Overview:
Blue Water Baltimore is seeking a Storm Drain Art Assistant to begin as soon as possible. This is a 450 hour stipend AmeriCorps position made possible through Civic Works.
The Storm Drain Art Assistant will work directly with the Clean Water Community Organizer and community groups to facilitate and coordinate storm drain stenciling/art projects around Baltimore City. This includes: presenting to community groups, organizing storm drain stenciling/art trainings and workshops, providing project support to community groups (i.e. managing stencil share, helping on paint days), and tracking projects and results.
Storm Drain Art is a part of the Clean Water Community Initiative, which aims to engage Baltimore residents in taking action to improve water quality and quality of life in our neighborhoods, streams, and harbor.
The AmeriCorps member will serve an average of 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend service will be required.
Qualifications:
- Must comply with AmeriCorps terms
- High School Diploma
- Valid driver's license. Personal vehicle preferred
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for the environment and the arts
- Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills
- Comfort and experience working with diverse groups
- Experience in group leadership and/or project management
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
- General computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Facebook, and Twitter
- Must be 17 years of age or older
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien
- Must pass a criminal and sex offender background check (no felony charges)
Compensation:
- $520.80 biweekly living stipend (before taxes)
- $1,468 Education Award upon completion of 450 hours of service
