Solum is a Khosla Ventures backed company, based in Mountain View, California, that is poised to revolutionize the agriculture industry. The company has developing field-deployable systems to measure soil nutrients with lab-quality accuracy. Our patent-pending systems provide growers with better, faster, higher-density information, which can be used to more efficiently manage crop inputs, increase crop yields, and dramatically reduce the environmental impact of farming by reducing fertilizer runoff.
Position Overview:
Solum is actively seeking a versatile and talented software engineer who will develop the company's data collection and management solutions. We are looking for a hands-on software architect who can build a system that gathers and manages data from our field-deployed systems as well as additional data streams. The ideal candidate will be experienced, self-directed, and passionate about delivering software that will have a meaningful impact on the world.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop a custom back-end for handling customer-generated and internally-generated data
- Develop a web-based customer front-end for analysis and visualization of geo-spatial data
- Develop tools to support internal data analysis and R&D
- Deploy software to enhance and automate field data collection
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience designing and building database back-ends (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL)
- Experience integrating data from disparate sources
- Experience designing and developing web applications
- Experience working with teams
- Python experience a plus
- Background in analysis and visualization of geo-spatial data a plus
