We are currently seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer in our Cedar Rapids, IA office.
Position Overview:
The Electrical/Controls Engineer will be working with an exceptional, multidisciplinary team of civil, mechanical electrical and process engineers. While the focus will be primarily on water and wastewater treatment projects for public and private-sector clients.
Scope of responsibility will include design and technical specifications, including: remote instrumentation, control automation hardware, writing process functional control descriptions necessary for system operation, design of interconnecting wiring and conduit systems for control, communications, 600-Volt power distribution and branch circuit power functions, designing optical fiber communication network equipment and industrial Ethernet routing and switching equipment.
Responsibilities:
Will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Preparing design drawings and technical specifications for assigned electrical and controls projects.
- Completing each project on time and on budget.
- Assuring that a QA/QC review is completed at the appropriate stages of each project.
- Determining if a contract needs to be amended and immediately seeks approval the project lead when changes in a project's budget or scope are necessary.
- Potentially serving a primary client contact for selected projects.
- Monitoring project's adherence to company standards, including Quality Control and Quality Assurance specifications and CADD standards.
- Performing field checkout, construction support and start-up assistance.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a B.S. in Electrical or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited, 4 year engineering university. Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, or Texas, or have the ability to obtain such licensure within 6-12 months. Experience with Electrical and Control System design for Water and Wastewater projects with design experience for SCADA, instrumentation, and P&ID drawings is required. Medium voltage and DOT roadway lighting design experience helpful. Depth of experience must include the ability to execute projects from conception through start-up.
