The be well Health and Wellness initiative of the Stapleton Foundation is a ground-breaking movement of communities coming together to take charge of their health and wellness. Our mission is to increase health access and usage of preventative care services to reduce the spread of chronic disease and illness through grassroots community engagement in the advancement of health programs, policies and research. We provide measurable and visible improvements in the health and wellness of residents and businesses in five key Denver and Aurora Colorado neighborhoods: Stapleton, Northeast Park Hill, Greater Park Hill, East Montclair and Northwest Aurora .

be well Northwest Aurora:

be well Northwest Aurora ( be well NWA) is a community partnership of the Stapleton Foundation's be well Health and Wellness Initiative. The partnership works to make healthy living an easy option for Northwest Aurora residents. Members of the partnership include residents, organization leaders, business leaders, school representatives, city officials and other community stakeholders. The boundaries of be well Northwest Aurora are Yosemite Boulevard-Peoria Street and Colfax Avenue to 25 th Avenue.

Position Overview:

The be well NWA Project Manager is responsible for the annual strategic planning and implementation of the be well NWA Community Action Plan (CAP). He/she is responsible for ensuring that the CAP is reflective of the ideas and expectations of the partnership and is in alignment with the overall goals of the be well Health and Wellness Initiative of the Stapleton Foundation and LiveWell Colorado. The Project Manager will oversee the day to day activities of the be well Northwest Aurora partnership and implementation the groups healthy living strategies.

Responsibilities:

Community Building and Organizing:

  • Recruit and engage community stakeholders (residents, employers, teachers, policymakers etc) on an ongoing basis to plan and implement the strategies of the be well NWA CAP
  • Provide technical assistance to community stakeholders as necessary to enhance their ability to fully execute the strategies of the be well NWA CAP
  • Facilitate monthly be well NWA Partnership and workgroup meetings
  • Attend community meetings/events as necessary to further build the presence and awareness of be well Northwest Aurora and to create new collaborations
  • Meet individually with community stakeholders as needed
  • Attend monthly be well Healthy Neighborhood Council meetings
  • Create, prepare and distribute a NWA monthly update to NWA partners

Project Management:

  • Coordinate the strategies outlined in the CAP among the be well NWA partnership making certain that all activities have an identified deadline and responsible party that will be held accountable for the desired outcomes.
  • Ensure efficient administrative, logistical and program support for the operations of the project by staffing be well NWA partners and workgroup meetings, preparing and distributing meeting correspondence, making follow-up calls, recording minutes, arranging meeting locations, organizing equipment, setting- up, etc.
  • Develop and manage communication and administrative systems that optimize the flow of information to and among NWA Partners
  • Oversee strategies budget to make certain that project are completed within the cost allocated
  • Prepare a weekly progress and financial report on the outcomes of activities completed during the week
  • Represent be well at LiveWell Colorado Meetings
  • Assist with the completion of LiveWell Colorado applications and reports
  • Assist with fundraising efforts
  • Track leveraged funding
  • Submit monthly report to be included in the monthly be well initiative report
  • Engage be well Northwest Aurora residents in other be well activities including the annual be well Awards and Community Event.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
  • At least 5 years experience in community mobilization and organizing
  • At least 5 years experience working with policy and key decision makers
  • Understanding of the political process
  • At least 5 years experience working with neighborhood groups
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating and involving volunteers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to balance multiple projects
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong PC knowledge
  • Well Organized
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Ability to foster strong relationships
  • Ability to travel within the be well zone and to state, national and or regional conferences as required
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends as necessary to complete projects
  • Not required but strongly considered
  • The ideal candidate will be a resident of or keenly familiar with the Northwest Aurora Neighborhood
  • Bilingual/Cultural a plus

Compensation: full-time salaried plus benefits
