Position Overview:

Wirsol Solar Americas is seeking a Solar Project Construction Manager to oversee the design, engineering and construction of its solar projects throughout the United States. Ideal candidates are experienced, highly motivated, self-directed, and precise, with excellent communication skills.

Led by some of the most experienced professionals in the solar industry, Wirsol Solar has been developing and building solar power projects - from residential housing to industrial rooftops to large-scale solar parks - since 2002. Responsibilities:

The Construction Manager will perform or oversee the following:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters
  • Manage projects to contractual requirements utilizing appropriate resources
  • Assemble submittal packages for projects using the latest electronic software packages, such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Excel, etc. to provide a professional submittal for Engineers to review and for installation personnel to follow in the field
  • Confer with engineers or drafters to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed drawings, and coordinate work with others
  • Take detailed measurements and obtain integration requirements for proposed solar system sites
  • Work with Structural and Electrical Engineering engineers to execute code-compliant designs and plan sets
  • Oversee preparation of PV system structural and electrical designs
  • Provide accurate project budgets, with precise accounting for all system components, labor and services
  • Develop and review project schedules, cost estimations, bills of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from installation subcontractors
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identify problems and solutions, and implement project design changes
  • Interface with clients, construction managers and outside contractors prior to and during project construction
  • Work with in-house team to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the National Electric Code, International Building Codes and/or IEEE standards
  • Review local permitting and zoning requirements, and manage submittals and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Work with utility companies and utility engineers to seamlessly integrate energy systems to the grid
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications on time, within budget, and in compliance with all federal and state operational and safety standards
  • Perform detailed system commissioning and provide in-depth project commissioning documentation
  • Participate in project evaluations and assessment of results
  • Manage project operations and maintenance obligations

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited Engineering program (ME, AE, or EE)
  • 7-10 years of experience in commercial construction and installation work
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in solar - need to have an in depth knowledge in all PV components (technical and financial)
  • Experience managing multiple work crews and subcontractors to keep projects on time and on budget
  • Understanding of International Building Codes and/or IEEE standards
  • Strong knowledge of energy conversion systems and technologies
  • Experience in risk management, insurance requirements, indemnity issues
  • Possess high quality workmanship, work ethic, and leadership skills
  • NABCEP and/or CPM certification
  • Strong organization skills
  • Likes to split time between the field and office

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in system(s) modeling and energy production modeling software, including AutoCAD and PVSyst
  • Ability to interface with a broad spectrum of individuals with varying degrees of technical knowledge, and to communicate effectively and proactively
  • Self-directed, with strong attention to detail, and excellent time management skills
  • High degree of responsiveness to internal and external inquiries, with a willingness to take on increased responsibility
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to effectively work in parallel with others as well as independently
  • Timeliness and correctness of all deliverables
  • Must convey maturity, experience, and confidence
