Thorne Nature Experience (formerly Thorne Ecological Institute) believes in discovery, exploration, and connecting kids to the natural world. Founded in 1954, Thorne has a rich history and has reached over 200,000 children and adults with its programs.
Thorne Nature Experience is seeking enthusiastic, environmentally aware individuals to provide program support for Thorne's After-School Programs. In the spring of 2012 Thorne will be launching a new after-school program at two elementary schools in Lafayette.
After-school Program Interns will assist Thorne Staff by helping to facilitate a variety of fun, hands-on, place-based learning activities in the school yard and surrounding ecosystem. Programs take place on Wednesdays at Sanchez Elementary and Thursdays at Ryan Elementary starting February 8 through May 10. Interns will also have the opportunity to support our In-School Programs by helping to construct student-written books at the Thorne office and shadowing these programs at schools.
Individuals available on multiple days are also encouraged to apply for one of our other internships.
Reports to: Lead Educator
Job Status: Part time, Seasonal Intern. Feb. 8th- May 24th, with a minimum of 6 hours/week commitment (up to 30 hours/week available)
Compensation: Unpaid Internship
