The Department of Architecture at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, is seeking applicants for a position at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor.

The Architecture Department is organized into 4 research groups at the graduate level:  Inclusive Design, Material Culture, Situated Technologies, and Sustainable Urban and Natural Environments. These are associated with a number of research centers in the Department (www.ap.buffalo.edu/architecture/research/index.asp) and aligned with the larger university research mission of "UB 2020" (www.buffalo.edu/ub2020 /overview/). Design based research form the core of the Department's graduate pedagogy and faculty work.

The School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo is the only Unit in the State University of New York system that offers the fully accredited Master of Architecture degree. 

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will work within one or more of these Graduate Research Groups teaching studio, theory seminars and technical courses. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to teach undergraduate studios and core technical courses. The Department is committed to advanced uses of information technology in education, practice and research and the successful candidate should exhibit knowledge of using and/or teaching these in her/his courses.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a terminal degree in architecture and have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research, publication and/or creative practice in the field of Architectural Design and Technology. A PhD, professional registration, and an established program of research are desirable. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas of architectural technology:

  • Structures
  • Advanced Building Systems
  • Material Processes
  • Digital Fabrication
