Loiederman Soltesz Associates, Inc. is a successful land development engineering firm in the Washington metro area specializing in the areas of civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental science and surveying.
LSA is currently accepting resumes for the position of Environmental/Senior Environmental Scientist located in our Rockville, MD office.
Position Overview:
The Environmental Scientist is responsible for performing professional and technical environmental work relating to natural resource enhancement and improvement projects throughout the area, using his/her knowledge to protect the environment and offering advice on construction and land-use projects. Environmental Scientists divide their work time between field work, office, and lab work.
Responsibilities:
Additional essential job functions include:
- Field work for Wetland Delineation and Natural Resource/Forest Stand Delineation (NRI/FSD)
- Biological stream monitoring
- General site investigation
- Tree evaluation
- Plant identification
- Assure consistency with local, state and federal environmental laws, regulations and policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resources, Wildlife Management or other related field
- 4-10 years experience in Montgomery, Frederick and/or Prince Georges county preparing environmental plans and permits
- Experience and proficiency in plan preparation, environmental permitting, NRI/FSD; tree conservation plans; stream improvement plans; MDE wetland permits; ACOE jurisdictional determinations
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory processes with Montgomery, Prince Georges and Frederick counties, as well as the state of Maryland and Virginia
- Proficient with MicroStation/AutoCAD
