Description

YR&G provides technical and strategic sustainability services for companies, communities, and building projects all over the world.

Located in New York, Chicago, and Denver, our core team of professionals have diverse backgrounds ranging from architects and engineers, to teachers, business strategists, marketing creatives, nutritionists, economists, and environmental scientists.

We use the most current analytic tools, coupled with basic principles of building, business and community, to find strategic linkages and develop solutions that appropriately balance cost and benefits.

We bring critical and direct questions to the table, and support the answers and processes for success in a collaborative manner that we facilitate with the benefit of our experience.

We work to make sustainability happen.

Position Overview:

YR&G is seeking a Commissioning Agent to support our green building work on new and existing building projects. For new construction projects, the candidate will perform all tasks associated with building energy system commissioning as specified by LEED, including pre-functional systems review, functional performance testing, review of OPR and BOD, and writing commissioning reports. For existing facility projects, the candidate will conduct ASHARE Level I and II energy audits, re-commissioning, and provide recommendations for cost-effective efficiency improvements.

In addition, the candidate will provide general support to YR&G staff (including energy modelers, design assistance providers, operations and maintenance consultants), to inform the strategic and technical direction of projects, and optimize those projects relative to the client's sustainability goals. Our goal is to provide a seamless transition from design and energy modeling, through commissioning and operations to help ensure that sustainability goals are seen through to the long term.

Knowledge of the ASHRAE-90.1 energy codes, LEED green building rating systems, and NYSERDA incentive programs are a must.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have a MEP engineering background, significant experience (at least 3 years) working in a related field (building science, MEP, etc.), completed at least 5 commissioning, energy audits, or retro-commissioning projects as the lead on those projects, and a relevant accreditation in the field (e.g. Certified Energy Manager, BCxA), etc.

The candidate should have knowledge of building energy systems (shell, lighting, HVAC, controls) and efficiency measures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, as well as strong communication skills, and be both willing and able to support project teams in all aspects of building design and operation.

Additional preferred technical knowledge and experience could include:

  • Renewable energy technologies and analytical models
  • Direct experience with the LEED-EBOM and LEED-NC Rating Systems
  • Cost-benefit analyses
  • New Jersey, LIPA, CT, and federal rebates and incentives for energy efficiency and renewable energy

Lastly, the successful candidate should exhibit strong time management, organizational, and presentation skills; be flexible to changes in deadlines and work focus; and be highly self-motivated. This position will require working independently as well as closely with other staff members and members of multiple client project teams.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
