Protonex is a leading provider of advanced fuel cell power solutions for portable, remote and mobile applications in the 100 to 1,000-watt range. Based on patented proton exchange membrane (PEM) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies, these power systems are among the industry's smallest, lightest and highest performing fuel cell systems for portable applications. Position Overview:
The Engineer will work closely with the Director of Mechanical and Systems Engineering on the development of fuel cell and power management devices for portable power applications. The ideal candidate will possess expert level experience in developing integrated electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems for low volume production. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the following:
- Defining design and testing of portable power military products
- Maturing of mid-TRL level products to low volume production
- Program management and coordination of multi-disciplinary development teams
- Writing and preparation of proposals and work plans
- Interfacing with component suppliers and teaming partners
- Direct reporting of junior engineers and technicians
Qualifications:
Requirements include the following:
- B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering, M.S. a plus.
- 10 to 15+ years of engineering experience in multi-disciplinary product and technology development is required.
- Strong product design experience in electrical packaging & interconnections, electro-mechanical component design and specification, engineering product structures and enclosures.
- Experience with electronic handheld device design, waterproof design, EMI shielding design and testing desired.
- Working knowledge of military electronics packaging design requirements for sand, dust, shock and vibration is desired.
- CAD experience required - SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
As a Principal Engineer, the successful candidate will be comfortable in a hands-on experimental environment, a resourceful problem solver, a team-player with excellent interaction skills, and capable of rapidly integrating observations and results into new designs.
