Description
Position Overview:
Mountain Equipment Co-op has an opening for a Planner in its Buying and Design department. The position, located at our Head Office in Vancouver, is for a 1-year contract, with full-time hours.
Responsibilities:
- Developing plans to optimize sales, mark downs, margin, inventory and product availability in accordance with financial and assortment plans at the chain and store level
- Analyzing all performance indicators on a weekly, period, and annual basis
- Ensuring operating plans address key selling periods, Key Item in-stocks, and clearance and exit strategies on seasonal items
- Analyzing business detail to support the development and improvement of ongoing processes
- Conducting work in accordance with SER goals and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree in related discipline (i.e. Business)
- 7-10 years related experience
- Creative problem solving and analytical skills with strong numbers aptitude
- Exposure to relevant planning, analytical and data management systems
- Conceptual problem solving and superior organization skills
- Strategic thinker
- Familiar with the merchandise and assortment planning process in retail chains
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Superior organization skills
- Passionate about outdoor activities
