Position Overview:

Straughan is currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Environmental Design Team.

Qualifications:

  • A successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and the Background in Stormwater Management Design, Sediment and Erosion Control Design, Site Design, Drainage Design and/or Stream Restoration.
  • PE registered in Maryland required, additional mid-Atlantic state registrations desired.
  • 8+ years experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field required.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with site design and LEED.
  • Experience with low impact development (LID) and environmental site design (ESD) in Maryland for SWM.
  • Experience with stormwater management design and permitting.
  • Experience with erosion and sediment control design and permitting.
  • Experience with H&H analyses for stream restoration including sediment transport and natural channel design.
  • Experience with drainage system design preferred.
  • Experience with environmental consulting and/or civil engineering practices (Forest Conservation Plans, Wetland Delineations/Wetland Impact Plates, Planting Plans, Environmental Assessments, and similar environmental documents).
  • Experience with proposal and task order development.
  • Interest in and understanding of current environmental issues and a shared vision for sustainability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and co-workers.
  • Must be comfortable marketing technical services.
  • Organized work approach in order to manage the diverse nature of the work required.
  • Ability to work independently and promptly grasp new concepts.
