The Reserve is currently seeking applications for an experienced and organized individual to manage the Reserve software and provide support to account holders. Strong project management skills are required to perform this function.

The Climate Action Reserve (the Reserve) is a North American offsets program working to ensure integrity, transparency and financial value in the carbon market. It does this by establishing regulatory quality standards for the development, quantification and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects in North America; issuing carbon offset credits known as Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRT) generated from such projects; and tracking the transaction of credits over time in a transparent, publicly?accessible system. Adherence to the Reserve's high standards ensures that emissions reductions associated with projects are real, permanent and additional, thereby instilling confidence in the environmental benefit, credibility and efficiency of the carbon market.

Position Overview:

The Reserve Administrator is the lead person for assuring the successful day?to?day operation of the Reserve's offsets registry program. This position is responsible for providing support to account holders and handling software management. The Administrator is the central coordinator for all processes, procedures, performance and developing needs of the Reserve. The position is also responsible for administrative tasks such as contact management, file maintenance and training logistics.

Responsibilities: 

Manage Maintenance and Performance of Reserve Software (40%):

  • Serve as primary liaison with software partner team
  • Coordinate development schedules and perform user testing
  • Track user feedback, maintain and assess development priorities, coordinate development and trouble?shooting schedules, document partner responsiveness on bug fixes
  • Assure that security and hardware operate at optimal performance, consistent with best practices
  • Manage internal and external access and security, in coordination with Operations Director, including create new accounts and support ongoing access to the software

Account Holder Services (35%):

  • Account holder support, responding to emails and phone calls for general programmatic topics, technical support, software and account issues
  • Liaise with the Submittal and Verification Review teams to update project status and phases in software - submittals, listing, registration, cancellation and inactivation
  • Assess account holder satisfaction with software performance
  • Document control, assure that current versions of appropriate forms are maintained and made public
  • Manage and maintain contact database and Reserve file management, download and archive project related documentation; update account holder contact information; work to improve and maintain upkeep of reporting functionality
  • Develop tools to support account holders (bulletin board, list?servs, etc.)
  • Review and prepare reports for monthly reconciliation of account holder fees and liaise with software partner team and Reserve Controller regarding past due invoices

Project Protocol Implementation: (25%):

Serve as project manager to assure full implementation of new project protocols including:

  • Coordinate with protocol workgroup to develop reporting forms that can be built into the software
  • Oversee software updates or changes, in partnership with software partner team
  • Publication of documents, including developing reporting forms or other materials necessary to use a protocol or list a project
  • Liaise with Communications Department to update FAQs, website resources relevant to new protocols and timeline for new software development
  • Liaise with Verification Team on project registration process for approval to list and register projects upon successful review, and approval of new verification bodies in the software as appropriate

Track ongoing protocol feedback, and coordinate with protocol team as needed to flag need for protocol revisions

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree: Public Administration, Business Administration or other related area preferred
  • Project and software management experience required
  • Experience or interest in working with GHG/climate change, corporate environmental management, and/or non?profit industries
  • Demonstrated exceptional writing skills and strong oral communication skills and presentation skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and databases
  • U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.
