Position Overview:

Quidsi Inc. is the company behind Diapers.com, Soap.com, Wag.com, BeautyBar.com & the newly launched yoyo.com. Quidsi is one of the fastest growing internet retailers in the United States. We are seeking to hire a motivated and talented Director of Merchandising to help us build our new "green" vertical.  We are looking for a highly analytical merchandiser who is passionate about "green" products and will help grow this new vertical through strategic merchandising including: assortment planning, vendor negotiations, onsite merchandising and inventory management.

Responsibilities:

Areas of responsibility include:

Business Plan, Assortment and Merchandise Strategy Development:

  • Establish optimum product mix, set overall pricing / merchandising strategies.
  • Work with Finance team to develop quarterly topline revenue and margin plans.
  • Provide ongoing analysis of sales and pricing and identify opportunities to drive incremental growth.

Team Management:

  • Collaborate on hiring and oversee team of merchandising associates and category managers to drive product set-up, day-to-day inventory management, margin goals, promotional calendar, and overall operation of site.

Customer Acquisition:

  • Work with marketing and creative team to drive conversions and new customer acquisition via direct marketing channels, branded partnerships, social media, and community outreach and development.

Vendor Management:

  • Establish new vendor relationships and work with existing vendor base to negotiate terms, develop incentive programs, and ensure a reliable and operationally effective flow of goods to our fulfillment centers.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and close monitoring of procurement margin.
  • Lead supplier/publisher business reviews.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

  • Project sales by SKU, and work with supply chain to purchase inventory required to support sales and promotions.
  • Partner with supply chain team to manage inventory health by ensuring efficient inventory flows (including the forecasting, purchasing, and return of new and catalog products). Involves determining and executing exit strategies for unproductive inventory.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

The ideal candidate possesses superb business judgment with a desire to build and manage a business from the ground up. The individual should have a proven track record of successful negotiations and relationship management (both internal and external).  He/she must be able to work well in and lead cross-functional teams to drive business goals.  Other qualifications include:

  • Strong analytical acumen. Comfortable generating and evaluating various forecasts, metrics, and analyses.
  • Superb business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and overall relationship management (both internal and external).
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills while managing multiple priorities effectively and efficiently.
  • Great communication skills (both oral and written) are a must.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) is preferred, as well as an agility with web-based software applications and internally-developed systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years of professional experience
  • MBA highly preferred
  • Retail or ecommerce background is highly desired

This position is conveniently located in Jersey City, NJ, a four minute ride from the World Trade Center and just outside the Exchange Place PATH Station. Bordering the Hudson River, our offices have spectacular panoramic views of Manhattan and New Jersey.
