One of the Wisconsin Technical College System's 16 colleges, Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) is a leading provider of higher education offering more than 50 career opportunities through associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates. Student-focused and community-based, MSTC serves a resident population of approximately 165,000 in central Wisconsin. The college has campuses in Marshfield, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids, and a learning center in Adams.

Position Overview:        

Teach courses within the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy programs. Emphasis will include residential and light commercial energy management systems, energy efficiency testing equipment, computer applications related to energy system operation and energy efficiency testing including energy modeling software.

This is a full time position with a 38-week contract; work hours may vary from traditional daytime schedule. Position reports to the Technical & Industrial Division Associate Dean.

Responsibilities:             

  • Teach courses in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program. Courses may be taught in the classroom, lab, and/or online.
  • Assist in program planning, curriculum development, and the ongoing maintenance of assigned programs.
  • Assist with program budget development and maintenance of equipment and inventory.
  • Responsible for classroom management, student evaluation, and records maintenance.
  • Assist with student recruitment, registration, advisement, and placement of students for internships and full- time employment.
  • Assist with advisory committees and co-curricular student activities.
  • Maintain technical skills to current industry standards.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Master's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of recent non-teaching, work experience with extensive energy efficiency background required.
  • Design, installation and maintenance of traditional and renewable energy systems preferred including knowledge of building codes and construction standards along with residential plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Certification in industry recognized Energy Efficiency and Building Performance areas preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills in educating adult learners.
