United Fund Advisors (UFA) is a financial services company that provides tax-advantaged investment capital and advisory services for community development and renewable energy projects. Position Overview:
The Associate is responsible for analyzing, underwriting, structuring and closing potential investments in projects with triple bottom line (financial, social and environmental) return potential - primarily real estate and renewable energy projects. The Associate is also responsible for overseeing the work of UFA's analysts.
Responsibilities:
Financial & Project Analysis:
- Oversee all aspects of project due diligence
- Perform project underwriting, prepare feasibility studies and market studies
- Create financial models, prepare pro forma financing structures and conduct NPV and IRR analyses
- Perform risk analysis and stress tests
- Analyze structure and potential benefits of tax-credit derived financing and public financing tools
- Analyze projects' triple bottom line returns; evaluate economic, social and environmental impacts
Project Management:
- Assist in negotiating investment structure and financing terms and in drafting transaction term sheets
- Manage financing closing process
- Work with Asset Management and Compliance team to manage project reporting requirements
- Build relationships with investors, developers, real estate and energy development professionals
- Take a lead role in managing New Markets Tax Credit applications, as well as applications for other competitive federal programs and grants
Other:
- Assist with a wide variety of research projects
- Provide support for business development activity
- Contribute to development of internal processes and controls
- Some travel is required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree; preferably in business, finance or real estate
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in real estate, energy, commercial or investment banking
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Commitment to community development and sustainability

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent financial and business analysis and modeling skills
- Ability to think creatively and problem solve
- Outstanding attention to detail
