Position Overview:

Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring a manager of sustainability to work in a unique department responsible for driving sustainability and environmental responsibility globally.  The position, and the department as a whole, has the responsibility to push the company towards its four sustainability goals established in 2009, which include a 20% reduction in carbon emissions by 2012 and strengthening the environmental profile of its content productions.

This position will be instrumental in advising departments on sustainability-related opportunities, measuring and monitoring our overall environmental progress, and assisting in the development our next generation of goals and environmental strategy for the company.   

We place a premium on creativity, an ability to work independently when necessary, but to function first and foremost as part of a team.  The position blends competencies from various traditional business functions, such as HR, marketing, internal consulting, operations, and team management.

Responsibilities:

• Support development of sustainability project ideas throughout the company, including the operations team within Home Entertainment, Production, and Corporate functions;
• Work with divisions, and/or manage consultants, to monitor, track, and measure environmental and financial effects of sustainability projects within the company and industry;
• Help prepare reports for c-level steering committee;
• Manage the green production process for all film and television productions;
• Manage the communication and material present on the internal and external environmental websites;
• Contribute to sustainability-related cause marketing projects;
• Provide sustainability training, manage the growth of the current employee engagement program, and support the SPE community;
• An important function will be the ability to develop new ideas, or further develop ideas, about how to best further Sony Pictures sustainability progress by merging general entertainment with sustainability.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

• Familiarity with sustainability in business, energy markets and carbon emissions

Required Experience:

• 4+ years of business-related experience, ideally with a combination of green operation practices, an understanding of carbon inventory, and/or marketing is preferred. Consulting or corporate experience ideal.
• Experience with data modeling and analysis;
• Experience in social marketing and digital marketing is a plus;
• Knowledge of energy efficient technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with the entertainment industry is a plus.
• Experience with the following:
• Preparing written materials (presentation and reports) for executive review
• Public speaking
• Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, and basic understanding of Microsoft Sharepoint
• Leading meetings

Education:

• Candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and ideally 4+ years of experience in consulting, social marketing, or corporate project management.
• Business and/or environmentally-focused graduate degree preferred.
