Position Overview:

VolunteerMatch, the award-winning nonprofit social enterprise, seeks a senior executive to serve as its Chief Financial Officer. This key senior management position leads Finance & Administration, serves on the Senior Management Team and is a key advisor to the President.

The successful candidate will have the passion, expertise, and track record of results to perform exceptionally in the areas of strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, human resources, facilities management and senior management team leadership. The CFO reports directly to the President of VolunteerMatch and is responsible for advancing the organization's long-term economic sustainability while providing critical infrastructure for the entire organization to achieve its mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop increased organizational capacity in the areas of Financial sustainability, providing the means to ensure the organization continues to add more value than it consumes and the means to measure business acumen and activities in such areas as quality and cycle time
  • Provide leadership of finance and human resources in service of all departments
  • Manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the accounting, finance, internal office facilities/IT and organizational development
  • Manage department staff of (3). Provide guidance in daily functions, skill and career development FOR these individuals
  • Provide financial leadership in the strategic planning and business development processes
  • Work with the President and Senior Management team to evaluate the financial consequences of current and proposed organizational activities
  • Work closely with the President and senior management team to ensure long-term financial sustainability that is in alignment with and supports the strategic direction of the organization
  • Ensure the effective financial integration of new revenue generating initiatives into existing activities and organizational structure
  • Oversee the financial obligations, expectations and reporting of all programmatic and/or restricted funding
  • Oversee and support contract management and administration
  • Manage the organization's resources to maximize its annual Social Return
  • Work collaboratively with the President and Senior Management Team on the evolution of Human Resource policies and practices appropriate to the growth and needs of the organization
  • Evaluate and manage company special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of general management or FP&A experience with a small to medium-sized business, social enterprise or business division
  • 5+ years with primary accountability for financial health of a business, including development and oversight of all FP&A functions and all Human Resource functions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new business strategies in a real world environment
  • Demonstrated history of success through promotion and/or business results
  • Demonstrated success managing in a technology-oriented environment, preferably in a software, eCommerce, hosted solution or other related business
  • Clear understanding of how various disciplines function and interact within a business environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams in a challenging competitive and fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals from entry-level personnel to members of the board, providing business literacy and sound advice, opinions and direction in the areas of F&A
  • Bachelors degree required, advanced degree preferred
