Position Overview:
The primary focus of this role is to lead a growing line of business delivering innovative, sustainable and green building supply chain solutions to portfolio owners and operators that design, construct, operate and manage a growing portfolio of buildings.
The position has responsibility for the performance of strategic consulting services to key target industries, helping clients meet business objectives through structured consultative relationships. The position leads and manages a team of consultants with overall responsibility for revenue generation, profit margin, client satisfaction and team performance in alignment with the company business strategy.
As part of this work, the position will identify and harvest new service offerings, partnerships, market expansion and client development opportunities as part of the company innovation program. The position also serves as the company thought leader for industry and client issues within the Line of Business, and will establish and provide brand credibility.
This is an executive position reporting to the company Founder and CEO and participates as a member of the executive management team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the line of business to an annual financial plan and profit target
- Drive business development with support from the Paladino internal BD team
- Participate in service offering innovation by identifying new markets, clients, products, services and partners
- Channel passion for sustainability and business into everything they do
- Ensure client satisfaction, retention and growth
- Own and maintain an implementation process /toolset that is organized, clear, effective, replicable and teachable
- Guide and grow key account, practice area, and technical innovation managers within our organizational development program
- Lead the company as a member of the executive management team
Critical Success Factors:
- Develop and execute a strategic business plan to achieve or exceed revenue and profitability targets
- Create innovative product/service offerings to create market demand based on the changing environment
- Meet or exceed client satisfaction and retention targets
- Continuously improve practice area delivery system and technical toolset
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date dashboard of practice performance
- Lead, mentor, and assess talent to build team capacity and capability to meet company objectives
Qualifications:
Technical:
- An advanced degree in construction/ project management, architecture, engineering, building science or allied field
- Demonstrated success with sustainability program design and implementation (e.g., advanced building and portfolio optimization programs, sustainability vision and strategy development, green building rating systems) including certification
- Demonstrated fluency in consultative best practice and innovation concepts
- Full command of LOB concept/technical, project management and client relationship management constructs and best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Adobe CS4
Industry:
- 6-10 years within, or serving client owners of large building portfolios
- Advanced understanding large enterprise business models, practices and performance drivers
- Established relationships with industry peers to be leveraged for new business, thought leadership and brand development opportunities
- Recognized and respected as an effective leader within industry
Business:
- Experience leading a business/consulting team for growth, profitability and client satisfaction
- Demonstrated success in achieving new business development (prospecting, proposals and deal closure) targets
- 6-8 years successful team leadership, mentoring, retention and capability development
- Understanding of sustainability as a business and financial motivator
- Strong presentation skills including development of technical presentations, approach documents, and influence cases
- A sense of humor and knack for innovation, rigorous problem solving, and negotiating positive results
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented working style
- Flexible and nimble in response to change
- Ability to travel 25-30%
