The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS, pronounced "chips") is a growing national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making schools a better place to learn. CHPS administers a variety of programs to promote healthy, high performance, "green" schools through planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and renovation. CHPS has an active presence in twelve states and is headquartered in Northern California. CHPS members include governmental agencies, utilities, manufacturers, design professionals and school districts.
Position Overview:
Half-Time Position: Education & Events Coordinator
CHPS seeks a unique individual who combines the vision to grow to CHPS' Education Program with an attention to detail in planning and executing all facets of events and meetings. While currently a half-time position, the goal is to grow the position into a full-time employee by growing the CHPS Education & Events Program. Please visit CHPS to learn more.
Responsibilities:
Employee will perform duties under the CHPS Executive Director, including, but not limited to, the following:
Oversee all aspects of CHPS' educational programs, trainings and events.
- Events include online and in-person professional design and school district trainings and participation in conferences
Plan and grow the CHPS Events and Education program year-over-year:
- Develop and maintain annual Events Plan and calendar of events
- Develop budget and financial planning for events and trainings
- Solicit sponsors and exhibitors
- Oversee and coordinate event and training promotion
Coordinate in-person events and training logistics including but not limited to:
- Selecting and booking locations
- Managing venues, vendors, suppliers and hotels
- Registering and communicating with attendees
- Handling post-event communication, evaluations and follow-up
Implement and grow CHPS' online training offerings:
- Coordinate weekly in-house webinars
- Develop new webinar programming
- Develop staff capacity for webinar best practices and presentation skills
Develop coherent, consistent educational content, including:
- Coordinating speakers and presentations
- Establishing and coordinating curriculum development
Liaise with Board of Directors and Committees:
- Coordinating logistics of meetings and conference calls
- Preparing and circulating agendas and minutes
- Maintaining Board handbook and agenda webpages
Qualifications:
Education and Professional Experience:
An undergraduate 4-year college degree with background in communications, public relations, event planning, business, environmental sciences or other related fields is required. In addition, 1 to 4 years of experience in managing and/or coordinating similar efforts as described under duties and responsibilities.
Skill Required:
- Experience with Microsoft applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint & Excel
- Organizational ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new software/navigate on a computer
- Excellent communication skills - oral, written, and presentation
- Experience in green event planning and/or working on green building issues a plus.
- Working some weekends and evenings required during events
