Description

Time and time again our clients tell us that the talent, expertise and professionalism of our consultants and support staff are second to none. We agree. That's why the culture at Natural Resource Group, LLC (NRG) prioritizes the people who make us an industry leader.

NRG specializes in providing environmental and public affairs consulting services to energy clients. Since its inception in 1992, NRG has grown to become the largest group of environmental professionals solely focused on energy projects. Our firm is headquartered in Minneapolis, with offices in Houston, Providence, Denver, Baton Rouge, Charlotte, Portland, Las Vegas, and Syracuse.

Position Overview:

Natural Resource Group, LLC (NRG) is seeking a Wetlands Specialist to contribute to the growth and success of the Houston office. The Wetlands Specialist would assist primarily with energy-related capital development and compliance initiatives, including FERC-regulated pipeline and underground storage facility construction projects.

These projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse - allowing a talented person to gain valuable task/project management skills and broad exposure to regulatory, public outreach, engineering, and right-of-way issues. Based on experience, expertise, and aptitude, the individual will have the opportunity to serve as a task manager on large multi-disciplinary projects and/or smaller projects, with the necessary oversight and support from senior regional staff.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to work in a hands-on technical capacity on multiple concurrent projects. The individual will lead wetland delineation surveys, associated data collection and analysis, and permitting efforts and will assist with threatened and endangered species tasks, regulatory research, and the preparation and review of various technical documents or document sections (FERC resource reports, EAs, EISs, state/local permit applications, etc.).

The individual will attend agency/public meetings as required, prepare scope of work documents for subcontractors, review project proposals, and manage the work of subconsultants and field survey crews. The position will require client interactions and some assistance with business development and proposal preparation.

Qualifications:

Project work may involve some travel (anticipated to be less than 25%) for agency meetings, project team meetings, and/or to conduct wetland/biological field surveys. Suitable candidates would possess a bachelors' degree in the life/earth sciences and a minimum of 3 to 6 years of relevant work experience. Individuals who are Certified Wetland Delineators are preferred.

Other assets will include a working knowledge of wetland policy and permitting, endangered species policy, natural resources management agencies, soil science, GPS technology, and map interpretation (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography). Ideal candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and proven organizational abilities. Self-motivated, quick learning, flexible individuals who have a pragmatic approach to conducting business and workload management will be most successful.

Compensation: At NRG, we provide employees with challenging, dynamic and rewarding work in an environment that emphasizes high standards, quality deliverables, strong collaboration, and opportunity for career growth.

Our benefits package is designed to recognize and reward employees' contributions to our company's success. Whether it's our state-of-the-art offices, company-paid parking or transportation passes, monthly employee incentive program, flexible work schedules, a top-notch healthcare plan, or ice cream on a hot summer day (compliments of the CEO), NRG employees are recognized for their hard work.
