Description

Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) is an international, non-profit institute. Founded in 1997, ISET takes an innovative approach to improving the understanding and level of dialogue as civil society responds to climate, natural resource, and environmental challenges in a rapidly changing global context.

ISET has a core staff based in Boulder, Colorado, Vietnam and Thailand and a wider network of associates abroad.  In addition, we work closely on jointly coordinated programs with our sister organizations, ISET-Nepal and the newly formed ISET-Pakistan, along with other long-term locally grounded partner organizations in India, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Pakistan.

The Institute serves as a collaborative international framework enabling and linking research, guidance and implementation activities across the divides of culture, discipline and region to address common challenges.  We work closely with organizations that cross the spectrum from local NGOs to local and national governments and international scientific organizations such as the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Organizations that currently support aspects of our work include the American Red Cross, the Rockefeller Foundation, the UK Department for International Development and other international development organizations.
