In response to this opportunity, the mayors of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland launched the Bay Area Climate Collaborative (BACC) with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and business and civic leaders to accelerate the clean energy market, enabling a healthy, safe and globally competitive Bay Area. The Bay Area Climate Collaborative includes a 10-point action plan including advancing solar energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and green jobs. The BACC is a 501(c)3 initiative of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group through its Sustainable Valley Foundation.
Position Overview:
The Bay Area Climate Collaborative (BACC) is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fill our BACC Program Manager position. The Program Manager is responsible for advancing select BACC action areas under the direction of the BACC Program Director. Areas of emphasis include electric vehicles, energy efficiency and solar energy.
Reports to: BACC Director
Responsibilities:
- Provide broad leadership to advance BACC's mission including substantive input on BACC strategic direction to BACC Director and Steering Committee.
- Develop and execute strategy on select action areas in consultation with the BACC Director and in coordination with Leadership Group staff.
- Provide subject matter expertise to inform program direction including staying current on clean energy and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives and resources at the local, regional, state and national levels. Produce white papers as needed.
- Serve as public spokesperson including developing talking points, producing op-eds, speaking with reporters.
- Assist in fund raising and partnership development including researching foundations, producing proposals, meeting with prospective business and philanthropic supporters.
- Provide input to program budget and staffing plans. Track expenditures to ensure alignment with BACC working group program plans. Recruit and recommend personnel for BACC positions.
- Track and analyze project milestones and metrics. Produce and disseminate project status reports and other update communications to Steering Committee, Sustainable Valley Foundation, Silicon Valley Leadership Group board, working groups or other stakeholders as needed.
- Identify, recruit, coordinate and collaborate with subject matter experts and subject knowledge individuals to support the BACC Leadership Group, the BACC Steering Committee and the BACC Working Groups. Coordinate and facilitate BACC meetings.
- Supervise and direct interns.
- Perform other planning and management duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in program environmental program development or equivalent experience, especially in clean energy, including electric vehicles.
- 4 years experience in program management, budgeting, and program implementation.
- Excellent organizational development, strategic planning, management and problem solving skills.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS-Office, Databases, websites, etc.
- Ability to travel throughout the region to attend meetings and functions.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in program management, environmental studies, or business.
- Experience in non-profit management, including fundraising.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain complex partnerships.
- Strong preference given to candidates that have Bay Area contacts in the municipal, business and non-profit sectors in the areas of climate change, alternative energy, and energy efficiency.
Work Week: Monday - Friday, with evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation: Full-time contract position. $90,000/year or commensurate with qualifications and experience.
