Position Overview: 

We are searching for a Mechanical or Energy Engineer in our Chico, CA location to function as the technical lead in the design, implementation, management and evaluation of energy efficiency projects/programs.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical/Energy Engineer will be accountable for the following duties:

  1. Design, review and evaluate new and existing technologies for non-residential and residential program applicants.
  2. Research new technologies, energy and building code requirements. Apply research to new and existing program design.
  3. Participate in the residential and non-residential energy audit process. Review audit findings.
  4. Provide technical input and expertise in program design, implementation and evaluation.
  5. Provide technical assistance in the development of field installation standards and protocols.
  6. Contribute to field studies, technical implementation pilots and other field work.
  7. Draft technical work papers, reports and contribute to database development.
  8. Provide technical input/assistance for agricultural and commercial water conservation projects/programs.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who has the following background:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Energy Engineering with emphasis on "Building Energy Systems"
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a team lead preferred
  • 1+ years building energy systems including HVAC, lighting and renewable preferred
  • 1+ years in Residential and Commercial retrofit projects preferred
  • Preferred experience with Utility Energy Efficiency projects
  • Experience conducting non-residential energy audits and computer energy modeling preferred

The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills and a proven ability to implement practical solutions to technical challenges. As a natural leader, the candidate must also be results focused. S/he will also be a team player with strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a cross-functional and diverse team.
