Position Overview:

This role will drive the execution of Sustainability vision and initiative within Georgia-Pacific's North American Consumer Products business. Senior Manager Sustainability NACP will provide leadership in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to support NACP sustainability vision (North America Consumer Products). This position will work closely with GP's corporate sustainability office, various brand and functional teams, and external stakeholders to drive the agenda in a collaborative manner. Position reports to Senior Director Sustainability NACP.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to support NACP sustainability vision
  • Expand use of life cycle assessments (LCAs) to support critical business initiatives
  • Frame up NACP position on key sustainability drivers (energy, GHG, fiber) and outline impact on retail business and categories.
  • Lead development of consumer insights and behavior drivers on sustainability in general, as well as specific to GP product categories.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and report out progress of sustainability driven initiatives to business
  • Educate business teams and integrate sustainability lenses into business strategy initiatives
  • Work closely with corporate sustainability group to be a key knowledge interface between the customers and the company on sustainability. Gather information on customer strategies and initiatives and synthesize them into key drivers and inform company's sustainability agenda 
  • Help the business establish sustainability driven product, packaging, supply chain and manufacturing programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred Must have minimum 10+ years experience with the following:
  • 2-3 years direct experience in Sustainability with manufacturer; consumer package goods experience a plus.
  • 7+ years business experience in marketing, finance, market research, category management, or other related area.
  • Leadership experience in profitably driving environmental sustainability initiatives and programs from the business side.
  • Led and coordinated, at minimum, two LCA projects. Main person responsible for scoping out LCA, coordinating access to information, managing day to day with supplier, and reporting results.
  • Led cross functional projects to quantify and affect key sustainability drivers; such as energy, water, waste.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills along with strong economic thinking and financial acumen are a must.
  • Demonstrated personal and professional effectiveness in leading a challenge process as well as a large cross-functional initiative across a complex matrix organization
  • Must understand sustainability related consumers, customers and market insights and trends and its strategic and tactical implications.
  • Experience working with NGO's and 3rd parties.
  • High level of confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy are a must.
