PECI is an energy efficiency consulting agency that designs and implements energy efficiency programs and research for utility companies and governmental agencies. Position Overview: 

The director level, enterprise-wide Residential Practice Leader's purpose is to develop market strategy and orchestrate the successful execution of a portfolio of programs aligned to the business line and company strategic plan. The Practice Leader develops strategies and goals, tracks performance against goals, and develops and disseminates best practices that support success.

The Practice Leader champions revenue and geographic growth, drives innovation through development and application of cutting-edge strategies, tactics and market interventions. Reflects strategy in programmatic and relationship conversations, and surfaces and facilitates cross-regional issues (e.g. investment options, resource tradeoffs, etc.).

The Practice Leader manages key national market relationships which support business line objectives (e.g. retailers, manufacturers, industry groups, etc). Contributes to the selection, deployment and cultivation of key expertise required to execute practice area strategy, including development and incubation of new businesses/sub-businesses from initial conception into viability and profitability as rapidly as possible.

Leadership in cooperative development of scalable growth including understanding practice area competitive landscape, and acting or driving actions to stay ahead of the competition are also key functions of the practice leader.  

Responsibilities:  

The Practice Leader is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities for the residential business line within the Strategy and Business Development organization. Areas of responsibility for Practice Leaders include strategy execution within practice area taking into account market and competitive environment, program delivery performance assessment, financial analysis, and the capture, development, and articulation of program management and delivery best practices.

  • P & L: Responsible for revenue growth and growth in market share; supports Regional Director to maximize profitability
  • Strategy: Understands client needs, market dynamics and market players to develop 3 to 5 year strategy that articulates PECI's strategy and articulates the plan to implement the market strategy.
  • Business Development: Negotiates new relationships with national account customers, manufacturers, and key contractors; drives future value proposition and program design; imports new technology; observes and works with the market, and manages practice-wide relationships with contractors and manufacturers to introduce new products into programs and create pipelines of opportunities; manages key national contractor relationships
  • Client Relationships: Supports Regions and Business Development with selected client-facing interaction. Initiates and manages national market-facing as well as client-facing relationships related to practice area.
  • Staff Management: Participates in selection and cultivation of key hires necessary to execute market strategy, including assessment and development of technical and functional skills necessary for success.  The Residential Practice Leader will manage a team of residential knowledge leaders and support professionals and will indirectly manage Associate Practice Leaders responsible for regionally related activities.
  • Contracts: Consults with Regional Director and program staff as requested on contracting of resources from strategic standpoint. Negotiates and manages any national contracts with partners, contractors, and manufacturers necessary to execute strategy.
  • Program Delivery: Identifies enablers and inhibitors to delivery success. Articulates, develops and delivers best practices consultation, and defines program and product solution architectures and approaches to meet utility client needs including; identification of trends and proactively works to manage them for topics such as: Market and economic dynamics, Contractor / management, Market transformation dynamics, Leverage of national and regional relationships. Oversees management of relationships and key issues across regions for program delivery. Manages projects within established budgets and timelines, while delivering high quality results to internal and external Clients.
  • Alignment: Develops the strategic plan for the practice and identifies all required elements, including investment targets; monitors business line execution for alignment with the business line strategic plan; assimilates, employs, and contributes to enterprise wide opportunities for synergy; identifies, engages and facilitates prioritization and trade off conversations to meet shared purposes with shared resources (e.g. requests for technical and engineering support)

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of program/product/segment management or program/product delivery experience; BtoC experience required
  • Experience with expertise in residential building science and energy efficiency preferred
  • 5 years experience preferred in one or more of the following: consulting services, residential building/contracting, consumer products, energy industry, energy conservation products or programs
  • 10 years of program and product implementation, best practice analysis and implementation and process development/Improvement experience 
  • 10 years customer relationship management experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the business development process and track record of business development success
  • Proficiency in gathering and analyzing industry intelligence and conducting empirical market research
  • Proven track record of developing winning go-to-market strategies
  • Ability to engage at all management levels
  • Strong facilitation and communications skills - both written and verbal; ability to develop and articulate an effective flow of ideas and information that generates understanding and creates a climate in which others are motivated
  • High energy level, decisiveness, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Proven record as a team player; ability to foster excellent relationships and create an atmosphere of partnership and collaboration
  • Previous experience planning, and implementing new products, programs, or services for a large business entity preferred
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Experience in working in a matrixed environment
