Navarro is a premier contractor for the Department of energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) providing environmental, renewable energy and energy efficiency, nuclear, information technology, and quality and safety services.  Navarro has over three hundred fifty employees working in 14 offices and 23 project locations nationwide.

Responsibilities:

The primary duties shall be to support the US Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Program at the Golden Field Office.  This position directly supports the Office of Chief Counsel in advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through DOE funded research and development of new technologies. 

Work performed by the paralegal includes legal research; drafting of legal documents; analysis, review and revision of legal documents; analysis of laws, regulations and case law; and administrative legal support including maintenance of legal files and law library. 

Collateral duties include administration of the Federal ethics program (including financial reporting and training), monitoring of National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) litigation, review of outside counsel invoices, tracking litigation cost, and reporting to DOE Headquarters.  Assistance on special projects and participation in litigation matters, including coordination with DOE Headquarters.

The candidate will communicate directly with a variety of groups within the Golden Field Office including project management, procurement, environmental, financial, and legal staff.  In addition, the candidate will have contact with DOE Headquarters, National Laboratories, private industry, state/local governments, professional organizations, industry advocates, universities, and award/grant recipients. 

The position requires a high level of diplomacy in developing relationships with a variety of institutions including government, laboratories, private industry, and academia as well as internal Golden Field Office groups. 

Qualifications: 

Required:

Experience using computers to produce reports, assist in establishing and maintaining legal databases, and perform legal research such as Lexis/Nexis and the use of the Internet for legal related information is essential.  Excellent organizational and communications skills are a must.  The candidate should also have demonstrated skills in the area of:

  • teamwork as evidenced by good communication skills, self-motivation, and flexibility
  • customer service
  • writing, including drafting of legal documents
  • MS Office, or equivalent software, including word processing, spreadsheets and graphics, presentations and email programs

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree with 2 to 4 years of paralegal experience working in private industry or federal government involving R&D.
