Position Overview:
Earth Care is seeking a passionate self-starter for year-long service to build the capacity of the Youth Allies for Sustainability Program to serve greater numbers of youth (ages 13-19) with activist training, leadership opportunities, and support services.
The Youth Allies for Sustainability Program Coordinator will assist in the coordination of the program's leadership Institute, Organizing Program, Youth Action Network, Green Schools Student Coalition, and Youth Voices for Change programming which together reach over 1,000 students annually. The Youth Allies Program Coordinator will focus on refining and expanding the administrative and communication systems that keep the program running smoothly and provide for its ongoing development and improvement.

The position starts August 30, 2010 and ends August 29, 2011.
This Position is available through the New Mexico Forum for Youth and Community's national AmeriCorps*VISTA Cadre program that places service members into nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of underserved youth.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination and logistical support for trainings, youth led-workshops, service-learning and community improvement projects and collaboration meetings
- Coordination of online communication and media-maintenance for Youth Allies Network website, social networking accounts, newsletter
- Community Education and Outreach for program/ organization- attending and presenting workshops at events/ conferences, reaching out to potential partners, coordinating collaborative service-learning projects, etc.
- Production of printed and online materials for outreach, recruitment and reporting
- Research and compilation of educational materials and social service resources for replication and adaptation
- Management and refinement of program systems such as file management, recruitment and participant management, evaluation, project portfolios
Qualifications:
- Interest and/or experience in program coordination and project management
- Commitment to environmental sustainability, cultural diversity and social justice
- Ability to work in small, fast-paced nonprofit office with youth, staff teachers and nomprofit/business partners
- Excellent written, verbal and research skills
- Advanced knowledge of computers, social networking, and file management preferred
- Website management, graphic design and or video production skills a plus
- Bilingual in English/ Spanish a plus
Compensation:
- $10,200/ year Living Allowance Stipend, paid bi-weekly
- $5,350 Education Award (for college tuition or loan repayment) or $1,500 cash stipend paid at the successful completion of your year of service.
- Student loan deferment or forbearance on qualified loans.
- Healthcare (catastrophic coverage), prescription drug coverage and child care allowance.
Eligibility/Restrictions: an AmeriCorps*VISTA candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident, be team oriented and be willing to take on a wide range of challenges. You must be at least 17 years old. There is no upper age limit, and many AmeriCorps*VISTA members bring significant work and life experiences to their assignment. Self-initiative, flexibility and organizational skills are a must. Also, you must be available to serve full-time for one year, (August 30,2010- August 29,2011) and are prohibited from secondary empoyment or full timie college during your year of service.
