Description

Corn Plus is a 45MM GPY ethanol plant located in Winnebago, MN that has been operational since 1994. With the impending retirement of its current General Manager in 2010, The Corn Plus board of directors has initiated a search to identify a successor.

Position Overview: 

The General Manager (GM) position at Corn Plus is expected to provide the leadership required to ensure the continuous successful operation of the ethanol facility and to ensure the achievement of the Board of Directors' operational and financial objectives.  

Qualifications: 

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Solid financial skills. This includes:
  1. Overall analytical skills 
  2. Balance sheet management 
  3. Understanding of the P&L, and the impact of actions on the P&L
  • Excellent communication skills with employees and members/customers. This includes:
  1. Listening 
  2. Interpersonal skills 
  3. Presentation skills 
  4. Writing skills
  • Employee development skills. This includes:
  1. Recruiting and hiring the right people 
  2. Motivating employees 
  3. Maintaining a "can do" attitude amongst the employee base
  • Risk management skills. This includes:
  1. Understand importance of meeting safety and regulatory requirements 
  2. Understanding of insurance requirements and subsequent premium ratings 
  3. Exposure to and understanding of risk management concepts
  • Planning and implementation skills. This includes:
  1. Overseeing annual planning and implementation 
  2. Delivering projects on-time and on-budget 
  3. Knowledge of strategic planning processes
  • Comfortable with and embraces/utilizes new technology

Desired Previous Experience:

  • The candidate must have had previous profit and loss responsibilities. An emphasis will be put on business management skills versus a technical background.
  • Ethanol/alternative energy experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • The candidate must understand risk management and how it impacts the overall profitability of the plant. Risk management experience in the grain market or the biofuels industry would be a strong plus for the candidate.
  • The candidate must have previous people supervisory experience, ideally with a management team that reported to him/her.
  • The ideal candidate will have reported to a Board of Directors.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable speaking in front of groups of people.
  • The ideal candidate will have a 4-year college degree, however, this is not required.

Compensation:  Commensurate with skills and experience
