The Grain Train Natural Food Cooperative believes the typical American diet has made our citizens sick, hurt local businesses and damaged our planet. We believe a diet of whole, organic and sustainable foods can reverse the effects of the typical American diet. Furthering those beliefs, the Grain Train is making a difference in our community by practicing cooperative principles.
The Grain Train is located in the heart of the beautiful resort community of Petoskey, Michigan on Little Traverse Bay. The Grain Train has been a vibrant part of this community for more than twenty-five years. We have more than 2000 members and the store employs 40+ staff. The store has 4,500 sq. feet of floor space and currently draws $3 million+ in annual sales.
Position Overview:
The Grain Train Board of Director's seeks a General Manager with strong leadership ability and excellent communication skills who can inspire loyalty in our staff and community. Our General Manager reports directly to an elected Board of Directors and will be responsible for all store operations, empowered and guided by Board policies. We expect our General Manager to help the Grain Train become an employer of choice in the region.
Qualifications:
Our General Manager must have extensive knowledge of the organic and the local foods marketplace, have excellent writing skills, strong financial understanding coupled with 5 - 10 years experience in a food cooperative, or equivalent experience.
Compensation: Salary range, depending on experience: $35,000 - $58,000 plus benefits.
