Description

KERSI is a small environmental consulting firm located in Parachute, Colorado, that provides services to several clients in the natural gas industry.

Position Overview: 

We are currently seeking an environmental professional to join our team. Depending upon industry activity, current employee turnover, and performance of the new hire, this position may be seasonal from spring to fall, or may turn into a year-round position.

This position will primarily be engaged in performing stormwater inspections on natural gas drilling and infrastructure and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure inspections.  Prior experience in this field is very desirable, but we are also currently seeking candidates with prior experience in either revegetation, plant community classification, wildlife surveys, air quality monitoring, wetland classification, 404 issues, or knowledgeable about Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission regulations.

The work schedule is 4 10-hour days followed by 3 days off. Transportation provided from Grand Junction.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform stormwater inspections in remote locations under all types of adverse and undesirable weather conditions
  • Produce accurate and consistent documentation on all inspections
  • Assess construction sites compliance with State of Colorado stormwater regulations
  • Formulate site Best Management Practice strategies and recommendations to keep sites in compliance
  • Identify maintenance needs for BMPs
  • Work with construction crews to ensure proper implementation of BMPs
  • Work with natural gas drilling and fracturing supervisors to identify and remedy materials handling and spills issues on active sites
  • Operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle safely over rough, slick, muddy, snowpacked, icy, dangerous roads with heavy truck traffic
  • Communicate in a professional manner with clients and subcontractors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Safe driving record and experience driving a 4 wheel-drive vehicle over rough terrain
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Completion of at least a B.A or B.S in environmental studies/science, geology, biology, botany, wildlife biology, or other relevant degree
  • Knowledge of stormwater management techniques and regulations is highly desired
  • Ability to write legibly, coherently, and professionally
  • Computer literacy and experience working in Microsoft Excel and Word and Office
  • Ability to manage a demanding schedule and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and stay motivated
  • 1 year of experience in stormwater, environmental restoration, revegetation, materials handling, construction inspections or other relevant field is preferred

Compensation: $20 per hour, depending on experience
