Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. (PECI) is an energy efficiency consulting agency that designs and implements energy efficiency programs and research for utility companies and governmental agencies. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, PECI has a longstanding tradition of pairing innovation with practicality to deliver customized energy solutions in building commissioning, retrocommissioning, and new construction with focus on HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and appliances. 

Position Overview:

PECI is looking for an Associate Director to partner with the Residential Director in providing leadership and vision for the residential products business line which includes appliances, lighting and consumer electronics. The Associate Director will have fiscal and strategic responsibility for all product program areas and will facilitate business development in the Northwest and Southwest regions supported by the Strategy & Business Development Group.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the energy efficiency industry and have a strong operational background with an ability to manage the details and build relationships across the organization. Applicants should also have considerable experience in business management and strategy development as well as providing mentorship and guidance to senior staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure impeccable and timely delivery of program and contract deliverables for our residential clients and customers
  • Provide leadership to the products business line by participation in developing a long and short term strategic vision and partnering with the Residential Director to ensure that systems and structures support development
  • Analyze and mitigate risks associated with contract requirements
  • Coordinate with the other programs across regions to optimize performance in order to acquire maximum energy savings and minimize cost to clients
  • Oversee program revenue goals and forecast revenue and expense streams
  • Develop and oversee project management measures across multiple programs
  • Develop sound internal management reports regarding program financial performance and trend analysis
  • Manage an operational business plan in sync with the overall sector strategy and budget; drive this business plan and ensure organization support
  • Identify key business opportunities and develop successful strategies to increase sector business. Identify partners/alliances/opportunities to expand growth
  • Represent PECI at relevant conferences, events and forums   

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with contract, budget, and resource management of multiple large programs
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing a large staff of direct and indirect reports
  • Experience leading cross-functional staff in a highly matrixed environment required
  • Bachelors degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in residential energy efficiency programs and or the energy efficiency industry preferred
  • Proven leadership ability managing large, complex teams with multiple high-quality deliverables
  • Robust communicator and relationship management abilities with multiple types of clients, partners, stakeholders and staff. Skilled at presenting complex information to all audiences
  • Developed talent as an imaginative, resourceful and strategic thinker
  • Strong organizational and adaptive management skills
