Position Overview:

The Energy and Power faculty member will provide a leadership role in the development and implementation of wind technology and alternative energy at JJC. Teaching assignments will include multiple sections of Wind Energy Technology (WET) in addition to Electrical/Electronic Automated Systems (EEAS) and Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) curriculum.

Because this position is organized under the umbrella of Career and Technical Education (CTE) which is legislated by the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Act of 2006, the Energy and Power faculty member will be expected to participate in appropriate advisory committees, collaborate with high school faculty and staff on articulation and recruitment activities, and play an integral role in the development of industry partnerships that implement comprehensive local programs of study for wind technology and alternative energy.

We seek individuals who demonstrate a positive attitude, who embrace student centeredness and will adapt to new and changing situations. The position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Environment Engineering or related technical discipline from an ABET accredited program.
  • 2 years of work experience in the alternative energy industry. 
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction. 
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.
  • College teaching experience, particularly in a community college preferred.
  • 5 or more years of industry related work experience.
  • Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes.
  • Experience with traditional and nontraditional students from diverse backgrounds.
