Stonyfield is the world's leading organic yogurt company. It is our founding premise that healthy food can only come from a healthy planet. We are looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Carbon Master in our Natural Resources group. *
Position Overview:
The Carbon Master is an integral member of the team responsible for facilitating the implementation of systems and programs which will further Stonyfield Farm, Inc. toward meeting our goal to eliminate negative environmental impact in all areas of our operations. The Carbon Master manages Stonyfield Farm's greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and water footprint working cross functionally with departments throughout the company.
The Carbon Master is responsible for identifying state-of-the-art opportunities and technologies to reduce the carbon and water footprint of Stonyfield Farm's facilities and operations, and will support the engineering, supply chain and logistics groups and cross-functional teams in implementing such technologies.
The Carbon Master facilitates a process for internally communicating the carbon intensity of Stonyfield Farm's practices from farm to table, and may develop external communications as well.

Reports To: VP of Natural Resources
Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- Effectively manage the carbon and water accounting tools including the analysis and synthesis of the data and results to identify opportunities to reduce GHG emissions
- Identify systems and programs to maximize Stonyfield Farm's energy and resource efficiency
- Support the engineering, supply chain and logistics groups
- Work effectively with cross functional groups and from people of every level within the company
- Strategic planning and project prioritization
- Develop expertise in greenhouse gas inventory methodologies and life-cycle assessment
- Networking with Danone's Nature group and other companies within and outside of Danone
- Producing copy for materials which communicate environmental related themes to the public and trade
- Creating and managing relationships with environmental partners including NGOs, contractors, utilities, governmental agencies and associations
- Initiating relationships with contractors, managing the relationships, contract development, work execution, and evaluation
- Serving as an environmental resource for all Stonyfield Farm employees including supporting their communications with customers, consumers, suppliers, media and peers
- Representing Stonyfield Farm at public events, including speaking engagements
- Performing routine tracking and reporting of resource use as needed
- Reviewing, analyzing and making recommendations on assigned topics.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Support environmental programs established within the organization to include recycle all office wastes according to program guidelines, initiate power conservation techniques by turning off lights and Computers when not in use.
- Proactively look for ways to reduce negative impacts on the environment
Safety Responsibilities:
- Proactively work in a safe manner in the context of performing the functions of your position
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to Company safety practices and programs and hold staff accountable for leading safety in the work place.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in field of natural resources, environment and/or business or equivalent experience required, Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated 3-5 years of professional work experience
- Able to plan, track, analyze and communicate complex financial and performance data to inform business decisions
- Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively across diverse work groups with employees at all levels of the organization
- Experience in developing and implementing business processes and systems and/or process improvement
- Strong analytical skills, strategic and critical thinking skills, and able to shift easily between strategic and tactical roles
- Experience with performing life cycle assessments highly desirable, but not required
- Experience with implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation and/or other carbon reduction projects
- Ability to gain support from diverse stakeholders for initiatives
- Strong writing, research and verbal skills.
- Strong computer application skills, preferably Excel, Word, Access, Outlook and Power Point, with particular emphasis on Excel.
- Ability to develop a project concept, prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints with minimal guidance.
- Well organized.
- Ability to analyze, reason, problem solve and make things happen.
- Detail oriented.
- Positive environmental representative of Stonyfield Farm.
- Self-motivated.
- Understanding of global environmental issues.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift 20 lbs.
- Ability to bend and reach files and cabinets where records are stored.
- Office environment repetitive motion through computer use is required
- Manufacturing environment operating in areas where high noise, machinery and chemicals are present
