Position Overview:
Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC is seeking up to 4 FORESTRY/RESTORATION CREW MEMBERS with skills and experience to assist Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC with plant installation, maintenance and management of ecological restoration projects in the greater Portland Metro area. Jobs are offered as full-time 3-month term positions with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Plant bare-root trees and shrubs
- Install container plants, plugs and bulbs
- Prepare and install native plant pole cuttings
- Maintain plantings using hand-tools and power tools
- Control noxious weeds through careful, precise application of herbicides using backpack sprayers
- Hand-water planted trees and shrubs
- Monitor conditions at selected project sites
- Collect native plant seed
- Prepare collected seeds for sowing
Qualifications:
Experience/Qualifications (Required):
- Ability to work outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather
- Experience using hand tools
- Ability to safely lift 60 pounds
- Ability, motivation, and endurance for 8 hours productive manual labor
Experience/Qualifications (Desired):
- Ability to navigate urban and rural Metro Portland
- Math skills and organizational ability
- Knowledge of Oregon native plants and habitats
- Chemical Applicator's License (Oregon)
- Spanish/English language skills
- Horticultural skills
Compensation: $12-$15 per hour, depending on experience
Status: Full-time for 3 months with the potential for an extension
Location: Tigard, Oregon, and multiple locations in the greater metro area
Transportation: Provided by Ash Creek from shop or other planned locations
