The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of 20,000 corporate and organizational members that is dedicated to promoting environmentally-responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work, has an opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented graduate student with experience in market research and a high degree of personal initiative to undertake an un-paid Market Research Summer Internship in its Education Department.

Position Overview:

USGBC Education develops and disseminates curriculum and training materials to help professionals across all market sectors build their careers in green building. To ensure that the education department's products and services meet the needs of its target audiences, it is launching a comprehensive market analysis initiative. The intern will be responsible for supporting this initiative by undertaking an initial market assessment of target audiences for USGBC education products and identify potential market demand.

This internship requires availability to work in USGBC's Washington, DC office. Graduate students pursuing an MBA are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responbilities:

  • Compile, evaluate and identify key findings from USGBC's existing data and reports
  • Gather, evaluate and summarize key findings from external market reports
  • Conduct market feasibilities and competitive intelligence market research on the education department's target audiences, including emerging audiences
  • Gather and evaluate other relevant market intelligence
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education & Training Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in Master's program involving coursework in research methods required; at least 1 year studying market research, market analysis, marketing, business administration, business marketing, education administration or social sciences at graduate level preferred
  • Ability to receive school credit for this internship required

Other Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Background in education and/or green building desirable
  • Prior relevant professional experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong research and data analysis skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Detail and deadline oriented; highly organized
  • Professional, responsible and courteous attitude
  • Personable, excellent team player; capable of working independently
  • Strong computer abilities, including competency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel and Outlook) required
  • Supportive of and able to carry out USGBC's mission and standards for quality service
