Description

Greener Museums is a sustainability company that serves museums and the cultural sector. We work with museums of all kinds and sizes, all over the world, to help accelerate progress towards sustainability. We provide museums with consulting services to help them go green. It's our mission to take all of the technical sustainability jargon and translate it into a form that's easy to understand, relevant to museums and the cultural sector, and easy to implement.

Position Overview:

Greener Museums is seeking an intern/s to help collate and communicate US environmental policies for museums and the cultural sector. The intern will be responsible for researching and identifying relevant environmental and energy legislation and then presenting this legislation in a form that can be understood by a lay audience.

This is an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with federal and state-level environmental legislation. This is also an opportunity to build one of the skills (legislative review) required for implementing environmental management systems.

Qualifications:

  • background in environment, sustainability or public policy
  • experience researching and identifying relevant environmental legislation
  • some knowledge of federal, state and regional environmental and energy legislation
  • familiarity with voluntary programs related to sustainability, climate change, etc.
  • excellent writing skills
  • independent worker with excellent time management skills

This is a part-time internship, running from February 1st 2010 to May 31, 2010. We are a virtual office, so you will be based from home. Communication will be via e-mail and skype. Current graduate students are encouraged to apply.

To Apply:

All applicants need to submit the following writing assessment:

Provide a 2-page summary of the technical guidelines to the 1605(b) Voluntary Reporting of Greenhouse Gases program. Your summary must be understandable to an organization that might be interested in participating in the 1605(b) program but does not have an internal specialist in greenhouse gases or climate change.

Please send your writing assessment, resume and cover letter with the subject line: US environmental policy intern.
