Position Overview:

Manage products under development according to Product Life Cycle/Phase Review process from program approval through volume production for metallurgical manufacturing company.  Apply gear geometry theories/applications to gear products and gear box development for wind energy, transportation, oil production, steel mills, power generation and pulp/paper industries.

Responsibilities: 

  • Appoint Program Team according to Product Life Cycle/Phase Review process;
  • assign roles/responsibilities, train, resolve conflicts, and dismiss team members according to policy;
  • purchase materials within company budgetary constraints;
  • ensure that precise product is developed and delivered in a timely manner to meet or exceed company's quality standards;
  • lead Program Teams and facilitate the communication and interaction between functional representatives;
  • track program against schedule, budget, and phase review objectives, reporting status to supervisor on a regular basis and executive staff as needed;
  • develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities;
  • coordinate with customers, through Marketing and Sales, to provide necessary program status and obtain customer feedback;
  • provide feedback regarding employee performance to the functional manager for documentation;
  • recommend new processes and lead efforts to improve existing processes as necessary to improve quality and/or on-time delivery. 

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements for position: B.S. or equivalent in engineering. 2.5 years of project management experience in the gear manufacturing industry required.
