Advanced Glazings Ltd. was founded in 1995 by Dr. Douglas I. Milburn to develop, manufacture and market sustainable and commercially viable technologies related to sunlight. To date, Advanced Glazings Ltd. has developed two important products; SoleraTM, for the architectural daylighting market and InsolCoreTM for the greenhouse market, both based upon transparent insulation technology. Solera was introduced at the 2000 conference of the American Institute of Architecture.  

Position Overview:

The Architectural Product Consultant (APC) is accountable for promoting the sale of highly-differentiated, innovative, technically advanced "green" glazing products through a highly effective sales program.

Responsibilities:

  • Call on architectural firms and assist in the development of solutions to daylighting challenges using our Solera line of products
  • In collaboration with an AIA presenter, conduct our AIA/CEU boxed lunch presentations to architects.
  • Ensuring that glazing contractors understand the company's products and carry AGL products as their base bids.
  • Growing the market for Solera by making presentations and sales calls to other influencers including: building owners, government agencies, engineering and consulting firms, "Green Building" organizations, and some OEM's.
  • Managing projects through to design phase through to post installation with the support of in-house sales and technical departments.
  • Convert interest into defendable specifications.
  • Attending trade shows, conferences and other promotional activities related to the sales of Solera.
  • Participation in weekly sales and project meetings.
  • Track and maintain project and client data on company client relationship management database.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • The motivation to sell a highly-differentiated value-added product.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Green Building/Sustainable Design practices is preferred
  • The demonstrated ability to effectively sell ideas/concepts
  • A balanced approach to sales: a high energy level necessary to reach all of the key influencers, combined with the patient, nurturing approach required to educate and manage through very long sales cycles.
  • The ability to self-manage while working from a home office.
  • The self-discipline to work with a proven approach, balanced with the self-confidence and creativity to make decisions that will grow product sales.
  • Strong time and territory management skills.

Credentials and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in selling new architectural products.
  • A background in architecture, architectural technology, or engineering related to the construction field is advantageous.

Special Requirements:

  • Some overnight travel will be required.
  • Strong business and personal ethics are an absolute must.
  • The desire to work hard, achieve great things, and have fun simultaneously is critical.
