Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an individual in the role of Sustainability Programs Coordinator (Vancouver, BC).
Reporting to the Leader, Sustainability, the Sustainability Programs Coordinator assists in the development and delivery of programs and initiatives to achieve Teck's sustainability goals and initiatives. The Sustainability Programs Coordinator assists in the development, production and administration of the annual Sustainability Report and other sustainability programs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates production and administration of the annual Sustainability Report, including liaising with the EHS group, coordinating the review process, collecting stakeholder feedback, organizing the design and translation and researching best practices.
- Assists Operations personnel with their Sustainability Summary reports through training and revision of reports and provides sustainability data and other relevant information.
- Monitors daily news wire and conducts desk-based research on sustainability-related topics to support and inform team activities, projects and initiatives and enhance the sustainability report.
- Coordinates, monitors and reports on execution of Teck's external commitments related to sustainability, including the annual Carbon Disclosure Project questionnaire and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
Qualifications:
- University degree in environmental, social sciences or other degree related to the field of sustainable development and a minimum of 3 years working experience.
- Knowledge of and work experience in non-financial disclosure reporting processes and voluntary standards such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), UN Global Compact, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) SD Framework and the Mining Association of Canada's Towards Sustainable Mining framework.
- Comprehension of best practices in sustainability reporting.
- Familiarity with the mining industry.
- Ability to conduct research and synthesize findings in a summary, tool or other applicable manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and must be able to work professionally with flexibility in handling multiple priorities.
- A results-oriented individual who has exceptional organizational and writing skills, and strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and planning skills.
