Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) is a partner in the Alliance for a Clean and Healthy Maine, as well as an active participant in the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine. We are helping to recruit for this part-time, contract position.
The Executive Director will lead and manage the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine, a newly-formed trade association of companies and supporting organizations that aim to boost Maine's green economy through the use and development of non-toxic, petroleum-free and bio-compostable products. The Council jointly sponsors research, development and technology demonstration to promote the commercial production of sustainable bioplastics made from potatoes, potato waste and forest biomass.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director will collaboratively develop and sustain the Council's program to realize the vision of locally-sourced, bio-based materials as a driver for promoting an environmentally sustainable economy. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine. Successful performance could lead to a full-time position.
The position is available for someone with outstanding entrepreneurial, communications, and people skills.
Responsibilities:
The Executive Director will: build and manage the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine as a nonprofit trade association that's business-led and technology-driven; lead a program to promote sustainable bioplastics through education, outreach, communications, advocacy, and cluster development; and help develop the funding and partnerships needed to sustain the Council and jointly sponsor research, development and demonstration of bioplastics technology.
Qualifications:
The Executive Director must have an outstanding ability to work effectively in teams of diverse people and organizations. S/he must have excellent skills in leadership and communications, including writing. Strong organizational, project management, computer, problem-solving and analytical skills are required. Must be highly self motivated and directed.
Must have at least 5 years relevant work experience related to sustainable economic development and a college degree. Some grant development experience required.
Compensation: Position offers a competitive salary based on experience and an excellent benefit package. Position is located in Maine: Bangor preferred.
