Position Overview:

The Inspector/Trainer is responsible for providing objective assessment of weatherization workmanship to ensure compliance with State and/or Utility standards and local codes.  Under guidance of the RHA Chico Inspections/Training Project Manager, the Inspector/Trainer will provide first and second post inspections of residential units receiving Weatherization services, including examination of Combustion Appliance Safety (CAS), Duct Blaster, Blower Door, and Natural Gas Appliance Testing (NGAT) forms and activities.

The Inspector/Trainer will also provide Classroom and Field Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA) for weatherization crews, with emphasis in the areas of refresher weatherization practices, CAS, Duct Blaster, and Blower Door Testing, weatherization measure installations, and Minor Home Repairs.

This role involves extensive travel (often overnight) throughout the state.

Qualifications: 

We are looking for someone who has the following background:

  1. Minimum 2 years experience with residential diagnostic testing equipment.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience in residential home weatherization retrofits and working in energy efficiency programs.
  3. Preferably some experience conducting classroom and field training on the subject of weatherization and/or residential energy and building science.

In addition, the individual must have excellent communications skills, be a self initiator and starter, and ideally have great leadership abilities. Applicants must have access to their own vehicle, possess a clear driving record, and must pass pre-employment screening including a drug test and criminal background check.
