National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is currently accepting applications for 10 Montana Energy Corps positions. NCAT in cooperation with The Corporation for National and Community Service have created these positions to address unmet community energy needs by promoting sustainable energy consumtion and education, fostering community sustainability and helping to mitigate the effects of global climate change.

National Center for Appropriate Technology Mission Statement: Helping people by championing small-scale, local and sustainable solutions to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities, and protect natural recources. 

Position Overview: 

Energy Corps members will be place with organizations and agencies in communities around Montana from October 19, 2009 to August 31, 2010 providing service that will achieve the following project goals.

Hands-On Energy Assistance: Montana Energy Corps members will provide hands-on energy efficiency and alternative energy assitance to underserved Montana communities and groups

Energy Education and Outreach: Energy Corps members will create energy awareness through education and outreach activities to those groups and communities most affected by energy and climate change.

Community Energy Planning and Organizing: Energy Corps members will work to form energy action networks and organize communities to develop sustainable stategic energy plans.

Qualifications: 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be over 18 with high school diploma or GED; some college or work eperience preferred
  • ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Good oganizational skills
  • Background and/or interest in energy and community deveopment issues.
  • Must provide own transportation

Compensation: Living allowance of $11,660 over term of service(approximatley $1100 per month before taxes)
